SILK ROAD
About the Project
We designed and built the interior of SILK ROAD, a restaurant specializing in Xinjiang cuisine. The owners, a close-knit family, have created a space filled with warmth and togetherness. Now, they are looking to upgrade their restaurant, bringing new life to the place they call home.

SILK ROAD—a name inspired by an ancient trade route, a lifeline connecting China, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. At its heart lies Xinjiang, where merchants, travelers, and cultures have converged for centuries. Spices, silk, and stories once flowed through its bustling markets, and over open flames, Eastern and Western flavors intertwined, giving rise to the distinct taste of Xinjiang cuisine.
The restaurant’s founders drew inspiration from this journey, naming it SILK ROAD as a tribute to Xinjiang’s rich culinary heritage. But more than that, they hope this space will echo the spirit of the Silk Road itself—a place where people meet, connect, and share meals across cultures. Here, beyond the aroma of food, there is warmth, there are stories, and for every guest who steps inside, a sense of belonging.
Our design draws from the hues of the desert, but with a soft pink undertone. This subtle shift not only evokes the vast, sunlit landscapes of the Silk Road but also infuses the space with warmth, emotion, and quiet strength.

All dining chairs are coordinated in the same color palette, creating a seamless visual flow. For the tables, we chose dark wood—a material that naturally carries the weight of time, evoking the rich history and enduring spirit of the Silk Road.

The same vintage brick and stone, layered within the same color palette, add depth and texture to the space—building not just an atmosphere, but a sense of time and story.

For the bar, we embraced flowing curves—forms that echo the essence of the Silk Road. Like shifting dunes shaped by the wind and the winding paths of ancient trade routes, these curves bring a sense of movement, continuity, and storytelling to the space.
The pendant lights are the centerpiece of the design. Dark wood vintage beams set the tone, immersing the space in a sense of history—almost as if stepping into the untamed landscapes of Xinjiang. Paired with our warm-toned walls, this contrast creates a dialogue between old and new—where tradition is not just preserved, but reimagined.
